Even Jesus Spent Time with God + Book Review

 The more you know God-2

Spending time with God is the answer to most of our problems, especially our trust issues. I realized, that the days I struggle trusting God most are the days I don’t spend time with him. Do you trust in God’s plan for your life? Do you spend time with God on a regular basis through reading the Bible or praying?

You will begin to trust God more and know God more, the more you spend time with him.

Often, we wonder why our plans for our lives are different from God’s plans for our lives. We question, “Why hasn’t God given me ___?” Then, we begin to think that God doesn’t love us because he has not given us what we want. This happens because we think our values are the same as God’s values. We think we share the same channel of thoughts as God. But If we don’t spend time with God, we don’t know his channel. This lack of time together creates miscommunication between God and us. And a lack of trust.

To know God and understand why he does things, we have to spend time with him. Even Jesus had to spend time with God, and he is God! It is that much more important that we spend time with God!

Here are just a few verses that show how Jesus prioritized spending time with God.

  • Jesus got up early to pray. “And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.” -Mark 1:35
  • Jesus prioritized spending time with God over others.Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray.” -Mark 6:45-46
  • Jesus turned to God even when he did not understand God’s plan. “And they went to a place called Gethsemane. And he said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.”  And he took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly distressed and troubled.  And he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death. Remain here and watch.” -Mark 14:32-34

Join me in prioritizing spending time with God. Reading your Bible is the best way to do this because God was the one who wrote it!

I love how God called Moses friend, and helps me remember that friends spend time together — and the more time friends spend together, the better they know each other, the more they think alike, and the more they know what the other will do. Time really is the secret to knowing and trusting God.

It’s so easy to spend time with God simply by spending a few minutes every day in His Word. It really does make a difference. And this is something I need to do again since I’ve been lacking in this area. No wonder I feel disconnected. Thank you, Joy!
