I sat with a friend as she cried and poured out her heart, “How can I believe that God loves me and will meet my needs? I’ve been single for years. I want to be loved, accepted and valued by a man.”
My friend is not alone in her thoughts. Many young women struggle with singleness and trusting God during this life stage. I believe the root heart issue to my friend’s questions is trust. My friend is not trusting God to meet her needs and satisfy her longings. My friend is not trusting that God’s love is enough. My friend is not trusting that God loves her, accepts her and values her, more than any human man ever will.
How often do you feel like my friend? For me, I know those thoughts seep into my heart and mind almost every day. I’ve discovered that spending time with God, in His word, is the answer to most of our problems, especially our trust issues. I realized that the days I struggle trusting God most are the days I don’t spend time with him.
Do you trust in God’s plan for your life? Do you spend time with God on a regular basis through reading the Bible or praying?
You will begin to trust God more and know God more the more you spend time with him.
Often, we wonder why our plans for our lives are different from God’s plans for our lives. We question, “Why hasn’t God given me a husband?” Then, we begin to think that God doesn’t love us because he has not given us what we want. This happens because we think our values are the same as God’s values. We think we share the same channel of thoughts as God. But if we don’t spend time with God, we don’t know his channel. This lack of time together creates miscommunication between God and us and creates a lack of trust.
To know God and understand his plans, we have to spend time with him. Even Jesus had to spend time with God, and he is God. As mere humans, it is even more important that we spend time with God.
Here are just a few verses that show how Jesus prioritized spending time with God.
Jesus got up early to pray.
“And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.” Mark 1:35.
Is there one morning a week you can set aside to spend time praying to God?
Jesus prioritized spending time with God over others.
“Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. After leaving them, he went up on a mountainside to pray.” Mark 6:45-46.
Look at your schedule for the week. How are you using your time? Is God a priority?
Jesus turned to God even when he did not understand God’s plan.
“And they went to a place called Gethsemane. And he said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” And he took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly distressed and troubled. And he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death. Remain here and watch.” Mark 14:32-34.
Are there any parts of your life you haven’t surrendered to God?
Prioritize spending time with God and pray that your heart would begin to trust God during your season of singleness.

at (9 years ago)It’s true I can relate to your friend I struggle with that wondering if God cares about me or my hearts desire even more so now n sometimes it seriously scares and depresses me that he mite not want for me what I want for myself which is to be a wife and mom and serve him its not asking for too much right?
Its hard thinking that mite not be God’s will for me and I know in my head and heart that even if its not I will still serve him and love him and that even if I don’t see it his will is ultimately best for me because he does love and care about me … But its still hard and I agree the times its the hardest to trust and be content is when we don’t spend time with him in his word in His presence … Sometimes we just pout hide under the covers I know I do and be spoil brats stuck in our hurt and wants and our emotions we just want what we want… But it teally does give more peace of mind andless stress on our heart and stuff when we just do what we know works spend time with him and he makes it better even if its not how we want 🙂

at (9 years ago)God does care about you and your desires. He does know what is best for you. Believe me, I know how hard it is to believe those truths. But we can’t let Satan keep pulling us away from God with these lies. God loves you so much and has a perfect plan for you. We may not see it now or understand, but His ways are way better than our ways. Praying for you
