When God Uses Broken People

Is there hope that God will use broken people for his glory? Matthew West believes God uses broken people. Do you? Do you believe God will use you and your brokenness for His glory?

What does it mean to bring God glory? When God uses your brokenness, other people will see God through your life story and you get to give God the credit for your life change. Would I have ever been able to find freedom from sexual abuse without God? No. Would I have found freedom from sexual addiction? No. This freedom is from God. My story of freedom only exists because of God’s work in my life. When I share my brokenness, when I share my story with others, God gets the glory. God gets the credit. Hey friends! Exciting news – a good friend of mine, Chad Young, just launched his new book Wrestling with Faith, Love and Gators! I’m excited for this new book for two reasons. First of all, Chad and I know each other through Cru, a college ministry, and share a passion for college students to fully know God’s love. I know that this book will help college students experience God’s love in powerful ways. Secondly, Chad asked me to share a story in the book! In chapter 3, I share a story of how I desired the love of man more than the love of God. I had placed the desire to have a man’s love over the desire for God’s love, and this left me unsatisfied.

The word worship is a powerful word. Worship is not just singing praise songs on Sunday morning. It is an attitude and a way of life.

As Christians, we long to live our lives worshiping God, but most days we spend time worshiping other things. As broken and sinful people, we tend to worship ourselves and others. We need to constantly surrender this to Jesus.

Jesus is enough. Jesus can fulfill all our longings. Jesus is the one we need to worship. We need to give our ourselves to God in every area of our lives. Here are some examples of how we can worship God: continually thinking of and talking to Him throughout the day, serving others with love, and being open and obedient every minute to whatever He may ask of you.
